Navigating through the perilous corridors of Hephaestus in BioShock requires players to gather vital resources, including components for crafting an EMP device. One critical location you must access during this mission is the office of Supervisor Kyburz, which is secured by a locked door code keypad. Finding the combination involves following Environmental clues and discovering audio logs scattered throughout the area.
Where to Find the Office Keycode
The clue for accessing Supervisor Kyburz's office is located nearby within the Upper Heat Loss Monitoring area. Head to the southwest corner of this room to find an audio diary titled "Kyburz Door Code". Listening to this recording reveals that Kyburz set his office door code to match the numerical date of Australia Day.
If you observe the surroundings in Hephaestus, you will also spot physical hints reinforcing this clue. Wall calendars and decorative posters in the area highlight Australia Day as January 26th. Converting this date into the four-digit sequence gives players the correct keycode.
How to Unlock and Enter the Office
Once you have gathered the clues, return directly to the locked entrance of Kyburz's office in the workshop section. Approach the numeric keypad next to the doorway and input the combination 0126. The lock will instantly disengage, granting you full access to the interior.
Before stepping fully inside, prepare yourself for active hazards guarding the workshop. The supervisor protected his workspace with several tripwires and automated security devices.
Navigating Hazards and Retrieving Rewards Inside
Upon entering the room, exercise caution as the floor is rigged with multiple electrified wire traps. You can safely disarm or manipulate these obstacles using your Telekinesis plasmid. Carefully make your way toward the eastern side of the office desk to proceed with your objective.
Look closely at the side of the desk to locate an intriguing hidden switch. Pressing this switch opens a nearby glass panel to reveal the Nitroglycerin required for your quest, while simultaneously deploying a security turret. Make sure to destroy or hack the turret quickly, and take advantage of the Power to the People weapon upgrade station inside before leaving.
